AI Video Titan Review

Highly Recommended

I usually find books written on this category hard to understand and full of jargon. But the author was capable of presenting advanced techniques in an extremely easy to understand language.

Overall my first impression of this book is good. I think it was sincerely written and looks to be very helpful.

Use ESPN Motion to Watch TVQuality Video Clips on Your PC

It's no surprise that ESPN.com offers a plethora of video clips on its site including game highlights and reporting from its various broadcasts. What is surprising is how good these clips are. Unlike most sites that offer streaming video clips, ESPN Motion video clips are remarkably smooth and high-resolution, making you feel almost like you're watching a regular TV broadcast. Of course, ESPN.com also offers a variety of other click-on-demand video clips, sprinkled throughout its site. These clips use normal streaming video technology, so they'll play back at a lower quality level. But you don't have to sign up to view these clips, and you don't have to download anything in advance just click to play.

Social Media Marketing Promote Through You Tube

Create a YouTube video describing and demonstrating your new app. You can set up an account for free in a matter of seconds on YouTube. In your video, highlight the use of your app and how its features and benefits make it worthwhile. Videos are very powerful because people tend to watch a video over reading about something. So once you post a video on YouTube, you can have literally thousands of views in a short period of time. People can comment on the video and your app just like on the App Store. But you can also comment back when someone posts a comment. This interaction will help you establish a community of followers to your apps and brand. You can also create YouTube ads for your app using a Google AdWords account. As we recommend in this book, use this approach sparingly and go slowly before spending too much money. Gauge if your ads are going to work or not before committing too much money to it. For more information, see Chapter 7, Using Social Media in Your App Marketing.

Online video advertising

'While online video advertising is still a small segment,' Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) president Greg Stuart says, 'we recognise it as a big opportunity since it gives marketers an easy way to transition their television advertising to online.' (Source IAB). The potential advantage of online video is cited as increased brand awareness, strong direct response and branding results and, in some cases, better results than television. Whilst at this time online video is primarily being used in B2C markets, the impact is more far reaching as it is increasing online brand equity and the value of this form of communication to organisations further upstream in the supply chain. For successful use of online video it is suggested organisations should focus on customer needs and translate and integrate offline video assets into the online experience, build more effective customer facing communication strategies and ensure campaign integrity and adaptation to develop an online 'lean-in'...

Share Videos with You Tube

Video Web sites such as YouTube provide one of the most powerful forms of communication for you to attract potential visitors and get them interested in your products, services, and Web site. YouTube, located at www.youtube.com, is a video sharing Web site that allows users to upload, view, and share video clips. Posting videos on YouTube is easy and requires minimal time and investment on your part. Users of all kinds, including small and large businesses, amateur videographers, and everyday people, have successfully posted videos to YouTube. Your goal in creating a video may be to inform or entertain your audience. You can create videos that both inform and entertain your viewers, but videos that entertain tend to create more buzz and result in more viewers than informational videos. Regardless of whether your goal is to inform, entertain, or both inform and entertain, try to make your videos interesting so that people will want to share your video with friends. Successful videos on...

Using You Tube

One of the most powerful ways to get your message across about your app is through a YouTube video. There are now more than 1 billion YouTube downloads Creating and posting your own YouTube video has never been easier. With a video camera and your app you can create a compelling video that will eventually be viewed thousands of times, perhaps millions of times if it catches on. We all probably know about the famous Will it Blend videos posted on YouTube a few years ago. In one video segment the founder of Blendtec grinds up an iPhone in his blender The video has had more than 8 million views and has created remarkable sales for this company. The video was catchy and provocative, something you need to think through carefully when you create yours. A screen capture of an iPhone app product video is shown in Figure 7.8. MUSiC ViDEO CLiPS

Music videos made a big splash when they were first popularized by MTV back in 1981. Since then, they have been a staple in the marketing arsenal for any recording artist. Now, YouTube has done for Internet music videos what MTV did for established artists back then. The difference now is that anyone can participate with user-generated content and it seems like everyone is. YouTube offers a way to share videos in a social networking environment and to create some sense of organization for the thousands of video clips contributed from members. Because video has now become an important marketing tool for musicians, it may be important to include some short video clips in the artist's online presence. You can accomplish this in one of two ways, either by embedding the videos into your artist's own web site or offering links to other video host sites such as YouTube so that the visitor can easily click to watch a video. It is unwise to upload raw footage of the artist's live performance...

You Tube

YouTube is another video resource that can be useful on mobile phones. It accepts the following file formats avi, .mpg, .wmv, and .mov. For videos to be available in YouTube on the iPhone, however, they must be converted to the H.264 compression format. For mobile, the safest file format is MPEG4 and MP4 (QuickTime) AVI, H.264 AVC, 3GP, and 3GPP.

Youtube

YouTube is a video-sharing web site that opened in 2005 it has become very popular and created quite an impact in popular culture. Candid and bootleg videos have rocked political campaigns, spawned a new generation of videographers, launched new celebrities, and exposed others (i.e., the Michael Richards incident1). Artists have been exploiting YouTube to promote themselves and their videos, both professional and amateur. Much like video cameras produced a new genre of America's Funniest Videos, YouTube has become an outlet for everyone with camera. Internet marketer Dan Ackerman Greenberg has described the strategy behind using promotional techniques to increase the popularity of videos on YouTube. Both stars and emerging indie bands have found a home on YouTube for music videos. With the popularity of homemade videos, bands can create a music video or concert video at a fraction of what it would have cost just a few years ago. Postings on YouTube should be supported by a campaign to...

Social Media Optimization

Social media optimization, or SMO, is a form of online marketing that focuses on participating on various social media Web sites to generate traffic, buzz, and links back to your Web site. Social media Web sites include social news Web sites such as Digg, Sphinn, and StumbleUpon video sharing Web sites such as YouTube and Revver and social network Web sites, including MySpace, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Various recognized SEO and SMO pundits have Video sharing Web sites such as YouTube and Revver allow users to upload, view, and share video clips. Videos are a great way to promote your business or to generate buzz and interest in your Web site. The most effective videos either tend to make people laugh or are extremely creative and unique. For example, some of the most viral videos on YouTube are homegrown videos that contain something outrageous or embarrassing. In addition, videos put a face on an otherwise faceless business pitch. Videos build trust in your users and can even result...

Whos Using the internet

Ninety-three percent of teens use the Internet, and more of them than ever are using it for social interaction. Sixty-four percent of teenagers create some kind of content for the Internet, usually through social networking sites. Girls continue to dominate most elements of content creation with some 35 of all teen girls blog-ging, compared with 20 of online boys, and 54 of web-using girls post photos online compared with 40 of boys who use the Internet. Boys, however, are twice as likely to post videos on the Web. Older teens, especially girls, are more likely to use social networking sites. Almost half of teens who use social networking sites visit the sites either once a day (26 ) or several times a day (22 ).

Going Beyond the App Stores Customer Reviews

Like the iPhone app directories I mentioned earlier, this is not an exhaustive list, but there should be enough third-party app review sites here to get you started. A lot of podcasts and YouTube video app reviews are available online that are worth searching for as well.

Using Social Media in Your App Marketing

When you hear the term social media what comes to mind You're probably thinking of Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, YouTube, and many other websites that allow you to interact within a community of users. But social media is much more. It also includes blogs, RSS feeds, LinkedIn, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, and other social marketing activities which we will discuss in this chapter.

Instructional Videos The Double Edged Sword

For many games, a video showing the actual game in action is often the easiest way to explain how to play it. Although this is highly effective, there are some drawbacks. Because of the typical file size of a video clip, you won't want to include it in your app's download for fear of bloating your mobile app to an unreasonable size. This means your only options are to either upload it to a video-sharing site like YouTube or host the video on your own web server. One option is vastly more effective than the other. Since many game developers upload trailers and instructional clips to video-sharing sites to help promote their app, an easy solution would be to simply link to one of those how to play videos from a button in the iPhone game. There are a couple problems with this approach. First, most video-sharing sites utilize Flash Video, which the iPhone does not currently support. Second, even if you use YouTube because its videos are dynamically converted from Flash Video into the...

Integrate Your App with Other Apps

There are a number of very popular apps in the area of social media that you can build your app to work with. Search the App Store for popular apps around Myspace, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and many others. Look for ways to enhance or expand the use of these social networking sites with your iPhone or iPad.

Want to play Four good reasons why

One of the most powerful reasons to use games for advertising is that a game is far more likely to be sent from peer to peer than is a traditional advertisement or commercial message. Whereas many video clips that get passed on via the Internet lean towards an edgy sensibility, or even a shock value, games can be designed to be appropriate for a much wider range of advertisers and audiences. (That said, if you want to take an edgy and more 'out there' approach, there's probably no better medium.)

Optional Video Trailer

Producing an engaging video trailer for your app is something every iPhone developer should seriously consider. Some apps are hard to describe through static images alone. Providing an actual video walk-through of the app in a slick, movie-style video trailer, complete with title treatments, visual effects, and music is a very powerful marketing tool. Captivating video trailers on YouTube have helped hundreds of iPhone games become best-sellers. to Apple's review team, you have no idea if you'll be required to change major portions of your app in order to receive an approval. With that in mind, you may not want a video trailer floating out there on YouTube and other video-sharing sites that is not representative of the actual final application that will be in the App Store. It's up to you to create a compelling video trailer, so take the time to not only plan the recorded walk-through of your app in the iPhone Simulator but also to script any audio voice-over tracks as well. Don't...

An Introduction to Social Media Optimization

Social media optimization, or SMO, is a form of marketing that focuses on generating traffic and buzz by participation in various social media Web sites, including Facebook, Digg, and YouTube. Social networks allow you to build large lists of contacts and supporters that can help to spread the word about your business and Web site. Social news services provide a platform for others to vote on your content and share your story with others. Finally, video sharing Web sites allow you to upload, view, and share video clips with millions of potential visitors.

Determining the Communication Objectives

The Oscars teaser commercial featured clips of characters from famous movies and television shows answering the phone with Hello (to check it out, go to YouTube and search iPhone Oscars Teaser). At the end came a rotating image of the new iPhone with only the simple text Hello and Coming in June. Similarly, as in a business-to-business context, A IBM used teaser ads to peak interest in its new BladeCenter server technology, which integrates servers, storage, and networking applications into one system, consolidating space and eliminating cables. BladeCenter print ads in IT magazines and videos released through YouTube made no mention at all of either IBM or BladeCenter. Instead, they showed a large, mysterious ball of cables and drove curious users to a Web site www.ibm. com outwithcables for answers.

Another way to drive traffic to your web site or newsletter sign up page is to use videos and tap into the vast amount of traffic that is available for free on Youtube.com Here is how you can put together a video from the content that you already have. You wrote all these articles for your web site and for your newsletter. You only have to turn these articles into and audio recording and upload it to youtube.com. When you upload the video to YouTube, make sure that you use important keywords in your headline. In the description of the video you link back to your newsletter sign up page. You can also make annotations, which again point back to your web site.

Creating or Participating in Online Social Networks

As we discussed in Chapter 5, the popularity of the Internet has resulted in a rash of online social networks or Web communities. Countless independent and commercial Web sites have arisen that give consumers online places to congregate, socialize, and exchange views and information. These days, it seems, almost everyone is buddying up on MySpace or Facebook, tuning into the day's hottest videos at YouTube, or even living a surprisingly real fantasy life as an avatar on Second Life. And, of course, wherever consumers congregate, marketers will surely follow. More and more marketers are now starting to ride the huge social networking wave.

Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words The Importance of Screenshots

Since the iTunes App Store does not currently support the inclusion of video demos, the only way an interested consumer can immediately see what your app looks like is via the screenshots on your product page. Don't assume people will take the time to download your app just because you offer a free or lite version or that they'll jump to YouTube or your web site to view a video trailer. They're already browsing in the App Store, so they may not bother visiting other sites, especially if they're busy (and most people are). Your App Store product page needs to convince them to download the app, and probably the most influential element on that page will be your screenshots. With so much riding on the visuals, it's imperative that you upload screenshots that best promote your app's core functionality and quality. If it's a game, then your screenshots better scream fun and excitement If it's a productivity app, then your screenshots need to emphasis just how much better someone's life is...

Let Visitors Market Your Site

Be sure to use a Follow Us note on your homepage as well. Beneath the Follow Us you can post links to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media sites that link directly to your content on those sites. This will keep your visitors engaged with your apps and development activities. For more information, see Chapter 5.

While Others Waste Traffic Trying To Sell By Force Youll Earn More And Build A Loyal Following By Using The FOURS

I have purchased every different program I can think of. I have not been able to make any money until now. Or at least until I viewed the first 10 of your videos. You see, even though I have purchased about 30 or so different site names and tried everything I knew to do, I didn't know how to make a word press page and was wasting a lot of money on PPC. When I say a lot, I mean in the tens of thousands.

Averting a Public Relations Disaster

The New York Times noted that within hours of the campaign launch, motrinmom was the most tweeted subject on Twitter.5 A YouTube video sprung up that showcased the posts (see Figure 9.8).6 Figure 9.8 Mom's Take Their Motrin Anger To YouTube Source YouTube.com Figure 9.8 Mom's Take Their Motrin Anger To YouTube Source YouTube.com

Try Try Again Dealing with App Store Rejections

If you have a legitimate reason why your app rejection was unjust, then talk to Apple about it. Before pleading your case publically on blogs, Twitter, and even YouTube as some developers have done, try to establish a dialog with the app reviewers who evaluated your app. If that doesn't work, then try contacting the official app review team email address at appreview apple.com or any Apple executives you personally know.

Leveraging Universal and Blended Mobile Search Results

Similarly, if you search for a movie title that is currently in the theaters, the search engines will direct you to listings for local theaters and the show times for the movie you searched for, before providing you traditional website links. The blended elements can appear at the top of the page, or mixed in with other results lower on the page. They might also include links to movie reviews, and YouTube clips of the movie trailer, but can also include images, news articles, or product listings. Google Web Results 92,500,000 results Google Images 16,100,000 results Google Video 27,300 Google News 10,185 results Google Movie Listings 40 results

Make Your Blog Successful

A proven effective approach to marketing your blog is through participation on social media Web sites such as Flickr, StumbleUpon, Digg, Technorati, MySpace, YouTube, Bloglines, and others. For example, if you use images on your Web site, you should also upload those images to Flickr, which is a popular photo-sharing Web site. If your blog post is especially provocative, you should definitely make sure one of your readers submits it to Digg, a popular social news Web site that can have a profound impact on your Web site traffic if the Digg community embraces your content. Submitting your blog to Technorati is another great way to market your blog. Technorati is a popular blog search engine that millions of potential readers visit every day to find interesting and informative content. See Chapters 10 and 13 for more about social media Web sites and Technorati, respectively.

Components of direct marketing

New techniques such as the ability to send video-clips have enhanced the attraction of e-mail marketing and wider adaption of broadband is likely to extend its use. Promotion by mobile phone text messages (SMS), especially among teenagers, is popular among food and drinks brands companies.

Search for Video Files

If you like AltaVista's audio search, you'll really love its video search. You can use the Video Search to find movie trailers, music videos, video clips, and other movies anywhere on the Internet. When you select the Video tab on the home page, the search page changes to let you search for specific file types (AVI, MPEG, QuickTime, Windows Media, Real, and other), as well as files of a specific duration or from a specific type of source. The results are returned as a series of thumbnail images click any thumbnail to play back the selected file.

Viral agent formats risks and issues

Even the subset of viral advertising alone can include a wide range of execution types, agents, or mechanics - including images, jokes, reality TV show transcripts, quiz promotions, advergames, digital video clips, e-cards, interactive microsites, Alternate Reality Games (ARGs), and more. (Examples of typical viral material can be seen on dedicated viral entertainment websites, such as the Lycos Viral Chart (http viral.lycos.co.uk), Viralbank (http www.viralbank.com) and Viralmeister (http www.viralmeister.com).)

Maintaining a Consistent Brand Identity

To reinforce the logo branding of Touchgrind, a popular skateboarding game app, Illusion Labs included the same logo and color palette within various screens of the app, as well as in the app's YouTube video trailer and official web site (see Figure 4-5). For all you nonartists out there, notice that even though the Touchgrind logo is a very simple design, its consistent use is nonetheless quite effective. Figure 4-5. Illusion Labs uses the same Touchgrind logo within the app Itself (top left), its Touchgrind YouTube video trailer (bottom left), and its Touchgrind.com web site (right) for consistent branding. Figure 4-5. Illusion Labs uses the same Touchgrind logo within the app Itself (top left), its Touchgrind YouTube video trailer (bottom left), and its Touchgrind.com web site (right) for consistent branding.

Coordinated Marketing Effort

The first step is to make sure that all your marketing content uses your newly created unique message, as discussed in Chapter 1,Your iPhone and iPad App Marketing Strategy Grand Slam or Base Hits By marketing content we mean every written word and every graphic you use to convey the value of your app. This includes content for your product website, videos on YouTube, product descriptions, blog entries, and so on.

Optimize Blog Posts for Technorati

Technorati is an Internet search engine dedicated to searching blogs. As of December 2007, Technorati was tracking 112.8 million blogs and is arguably the most recognized authority on what is happening on the World Live Web at the present time. The Live Web, as Technorati calls it, is the dynamic and ever-changing portion of the Web created by users. Usergenerated content includes Weblogs, photo sharing sites, and video sharing sites. This type of user-generated media is sometimes referred to as citizen media. Although Technorati has expanded its listings to these other types of citizen media, it began with blogs, and that area of the social Web remains its specialty. Technorati works similarly to the way that other search engines work in that it uses the number of links pointing to a blog to track its popularity, or as Technorati calls it, authority. To rank highly on Technorati, you must participate regularly in the blogging community. If you

Weller

Within the first 5 pages, Dan Kennedy had me taking notes. By the end of the book I had devised an entirely new strategy for my video marketing company. Every businessperson needs this book and will find example after example of techniques to enrich their product or service.

Web

MySpace was founded in 2003, which allowed casual users to build a web page for themselves and build social networks online. Flickr launched in early 2004, giving users the opportunity to store and share photos online. Yahoo bought Fickr in 2005. Other Web 2.0 innovations include Craigslist, Ebay, Digg, Facebook, YouTube, Second Life, etc. In 2006, Time Magazine awarded its person of the year award to you the creators on Web 2.0. Time describes Web 2.0 as a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter. By 2006, there were also more than 92 million web sites online. YouTube Upload videos and share or embed into your social networking page.

MUSiC Videos

Videos remain an important promotional tool, if not for consumer promotion, then to showcase the artist to booking agents for TV shows and concerts. The rise of YouTube and other online video outlets has spurred a new kind of video format that is more edgy and an alternative to the slick Hollywood-style videos on cable TV. It's called the viral video, but virility is but one component. To begin with, many of the successful viral videos were not actually made by hobbyists but are produced to give that appearance like the movie the Blair Witch Project. Then, because the videos seem to come from the street but have interesting qualities, they are passed around as consumers get the impression that they found it first and want to share this nugget with their friends. If they had the impression it was a corporate-sponsored mass media product, they would probably not bother with grassroots sharing because they would assume everyone would be exposed to it soon enough. A video presence is now...

Case Study 2 Trojan

Description This online viral marketing campaign featured sex-and-games spoof video clips by The Viral Factory. They were made available on a dedicated microsite and released during the build-up to the 2004 Olympic Games. The site was said to have received over 9 million visits by March 2004. Other brand benefits gleaned from a survey for Carter Products by consumer market research agency QuickWise include

Site Alexa Rank

There are many more services like this, but the list above should get you started. For 5 you can get a video created that can potentially bring in thousands of subscribers for you newsletter. People love videos. But make sure that your videos are short and to the point. There is nothing more annoying as being forced to go through 10 minutes of boring video only to find out that it was not what you were looking for.

Social Media

Social networking media (in addition to blogs) present a variety of ways you can develop a relationship with your customers or potential customers. They include MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, Gather, Classmates, LinkedIn, Xanga, Squidoo, Twitter, Orkut, Bebo, Ning, del.icio.us, Second Life, Flickr, and YouTube, and by the time this book is published, probably another dozen new media may have appeared (and perhaps others disappeared). The numbers are overwhelming. MySpace has upward of 200 million members, whereas Facebook has more than 100 million devotees, and 60 percent of them log on to the site at least once a day. More than 65,000 videos are uploaded on YouTube daily.3 4 In 2008, the five brands most often

Blended Search Video

Video provides another big opportunity for search acquisition. Not only do videos often appear in blended search results, but YouTube is now the second largest search engine (after Google). You can now submit product videos to Google Product Search15 as well, so clearly video opportunity continues to increase. And views of online video increased 41 percent from August, 2008, to August, 2009,16 so potential customer behavior continues to evolve from primarily consuming text online to being comfortable consuming video as well. We conduct more than 2.6 billion searches a month on video search engines.17 Eighty-five percent of online Americans view videos online each month, for a total of 26 billion video views.18 Assess your site for video opportunities, create a YouTube channel for your videos, and make sure that as with web pages, you use descriptive text that uses the language of your target audience (see Figure 5.14).

Video Results

If you have videos on your website, it is important to get them ranking in video search engines, including YouTube and Google Video. Submitting your videos and using a video site map will help the search engines find and index the videos on your website more efficiently. These video file types can be included in your Google Video Site Map The most common mobile video formats are 3pg and mp4. Flash (.flv) video files frequently will not work, so try to save your videos as ,mp4 or ,3pg if you want them to rank well in mobile results. You can use the video site map to include or add descriptions and other metadata for each of your videos that you are submitting so that the search engines have an easier time understanding what the videos are about. They also enable you to link to a thumbnail image of the video that will show in the search results. If you don't provide your own thumbnail images, the engine will generate its own thumbnails, and they might not be as compelling or interesting...

Java Script

Place the following JavaScript code anywhere in your web page where you need to switch between two content formats based on the browser model. Just like in the previous JavaScript example, retrieve the user agent and check it for the presence of iphone. If that word is found, then the page is being viewed with Mobile Safari, so display an iPhone-compatible video format like QuickTime MOV. If some other web browser is being used from a computer, then it's safe to load a Flash Video file instead, such as an embedded YouTube video.

B Online sponsorship

A great business-to-business example of online sponsorship is offered by WebTrends which sponsors the customer information channel on ClickZ.com (www.clickz.com experts). They combined this sponsorship with different ads each month offering e-marketers the chance to learn about different topics such as search marketing, retention and conversion marketing through detailed white papers and 'Take 10' online video presentation by industry experts which could be downloaded by registered users. The objective of these ads was to encourage prospects to subscribe to the WebTrends WebResults e-newsletter and to assess purchase intent at sign-up enabling follow-up telemarketing by regional distributors. WebTrends reported the following results over a single year of sponsorship

Proximity Marketing

Proximity marketing allows businesses to do this as long as the customer has the equipment to receive and has agreed to accept marketing messages. Messages should not be sent to customers who have not opted-in to receive them. Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and PDAs, as well as cell phones equipped with a GPS system, are among the current generation of mobile devices that are capable of being targeted by proximity marketing. Proximity marketing services are capable of sending text messages, video clips, ringtones, audio files, and promotional or discount

Image Search

Google's YouTube video describing the service explains how it can be used for local search as well. You can point your phone at a local business and Google will display the name of that business and enable you to view information about it. Now, when you walk by a restaurant you've never tried, you can simply aim your phone at the restaurant for instant access to reviews.

Viral marketing

Pass-along or forwarding has worked well for video clips, either where they are attached to the e-mail or the e-mail contains a link to download the clip. If the e-mail has the 'WOW ' factor, of which more later, a lot more than one in a hundred will forward the e-mail. This mechanism is what most people consider to be viral, but there are the other mechanisms that follow too.

Allow Interaction

One way to do this is to allow your invitees to invite other people. This opens up your Event to a much larger network. Allow all your invitees to post videos, links, and photos of the Event. You can use this strategy to drive interest leading up to the big night and to grab content for your Page afterward, when attendees are likely to post photos they took at the Event. Encourage conversation among invitees by keeping the Wall open to allow discussion. Don't forget to participate yourself
