Questionnaire Wording

Care has to be taken with how questions are phrased since careful question design can substantially reduce the bias arising from confusion or lack of understanding. It will also help to minimise response bias which is a function of the respondent's perceptions and predispositions. Questions should be simple, intelligible and clear. The tradeoff between the desire to secure a maximum amount of information from a respondent and the need to keep the interview clear has a major bearing on questionnaire design in respect of its length, complexity, layout and wording.
