Low cost per response

The costs of a postal survey are low. However, it is assumed that the user is an expert in postal surveys and understands how to get a high rate of return. On this assumption, the costs per return are low compared with most other survey methods. It is the going-in cost that is high; once the basic costs have been paid, the additional cost per unit is minimal. Once envelopes and paper costs are paid, although postage costs rise proportionately with numbers, printing costs rise only minimally.
