Fourgroup six study design

This design, also called the Soloman four-group design, is the most sophisticated basic design. It is intended to isolate the effects of various internal validity measures as well as the impact of pretesting. Two experimental and two control groups are randomly selected. The following diagram shows how the design operates:

Treatment effect = [O5 - 1/2(O1 - O3)] - [O6 - 1/2(O1 - O3)]

Although it is considered the ideal basic design, it is not very often used by researchers because of its expense and the time it requires.
