La Gaieté Parisienne owns four boutiques in and around Paris. Recently it undertook a survey of 1000 customers which, among other things, attempted to ascertain whether there was any association between age and the boutique patronised by respondents. A random sample of 250 customers was taken at each boutique between 12 May and 30 May.

If there were any associations between age and boutique patronage, there might be an argument for changing the mix of items offered for sale at each of the boutiques. Table 10.22 shows the boutiques and the age profile of the respondents interviewed at each boutique.
