The Challenge

Vancouver-based studio CFX Creative, headed by founder and CEO Carly H. Franklin, specializes in graphic design, corporate identity, and Web development. The challenge the studio faced in designing its own mark was how to give equitable billing to all three services and make a strong statement about how the sen/ices are rendered.

The Process

Creating a mark that offered clues to services was simple enough. But the revelation that one wordmark candidate was actually a play on words—"see effects"—made the final name selection a breeze. The design team then experimented with an abstract rendering of an eye to sublimate a message that the studio's work is engaging and eye-catching. A clear blue color scheme sends supporting messages of clarity, optimism, and How.

The Result

CFX Creative's icon and wordmark have been flexible enough to seamlessly evolve from the website's initial launch to its current use in marketing and promotional initiatives.
