Building the Team

Most teams evolve. People find themselves working together and they try to make it work as best they can. This is hardly a structured, scientific, or even a managed approach. It's much better to work out what you require for a team and choose the people accordingly.

The following are key criteria for team building:

♦ Putting together the right and complementary skill sets

♦ Choosing people who will have a positive effect on each other

♦ Separating responsibilities to avoid overlaps that could lead to territorial squabbles

♦ Ensuring redundancy on complex or critical parts
